Letter to the Editor--June 28,2007

This is the first letter from GUD which was published in the three major newspapers in Guyana:

Darfur horrors
NO OTHER international issue affects me more than the atrocities that are being committed on the people of Darfur in Sudan.

Since early 2003, thousands of civilians have died (according to some estimates, more than 300,000 lives have been lost to date) many more have been displaced and driven from their homes and thousands more have died from the lack of access to food, water, health care and other basic human needs.

I would like to see your newspaper increase your coverage of what is going on in Darfur and to highlight what is being done both locally and internationally to avert what is shaping up to be the worst genocidal act in the history of humanity.
